Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me prov'd,
I never writ, nor no man ever lov'd.
-Shakespeare
I draw inspiration from many avenues, and I try to photograph intriguing moments that enhance serenity, beauty, and truth. I captured this wedding photography moment minutes before Ashley entered the chapel. She was nervous and excited, and I wanted to take a moment to calm her down; the door was about ten yards away when I told her to look back towards me.
Reflecting on this portrait, I can't help but think of Shakespeare's words and his ideals of love: true love is eternal and can be captured through images, portraits, and words to withstand time.
It's a reminder to take a deep breath, relax, and go for what we want.
This portrait will be featured at the Art Delight Gallery in Seoul, South Korea, in August 2021.
